words well spoken

"The sharing of art is a precursor to the sharing of other human experiences, for what is pleasurable in art becomes thinkable in life."

i was deep in the internet reading articles on god knows what in crazy magazine publications from far away countries and this made sense...

new single...tweaked viedo

new yeasayer single "ambling alp" is in my good books. the video is tweaked, following in the foot steps of other tweaked out videos like ohh the new grizzly bear vid "ready, able"
it's all out there, don't get weirded out, get out there too...

before the hype

before the movie, way back when it was only a book, i made this for my mom to put on her desk because she was a primary school teacher. i really like the book and wanted to get other kids stoked on "where the wild things are"

stop go

I just came across Oren Lavie - Her morning elegance video. It's a fun video with some amazing stop motion film work. The song is kinda fun too, Garden State-esque.
(Im lazy and don't want to load the video, so hit the link or search youtube)

Tribe

I watched a few episodes of BBC documentary called "Tribe"…  An interesting part of each episode is when Bruce experiments with hallucinagens from each tribe he visits… He then gives a little critique on what he feels.  The common theme through out each cosmic mind bender journey is that each tribes social lubricant is a drug that increases empathy towards others and the world in general, and then let’s you reflect on all the wrong doings you’ve done in your life…. interesting stuff

big bang to the brain

so i've been gapping out on cosmology lately (it's the study of the universe with reference to observational astronomy, particle physics, and humanity's place within it...more or less) anyways, when i was in Van my friend had an astronomy magazine, first reaction was nerd, then i lost my mind on the pictures from the hubble telescope. the universe is insane! look at those pictures, that's out there somewhere. i think it's cool. also, i have a huge love for geometric shapes and organic shapes, basically shapes in general so david obrien's artwork related really well with cosmology, has amazing detail and is visually outstanding.
i like davids work, the stars and the universe right now.

it's super design nerd stuff...should be interesting.

we bought a printer, a refurbished model...it had best not disappoint.
avoiding any technical 'surprises' we should have issues out by the end of the week before i take off. let me know if you want a pdf version.

mock up

there's a 300,000 dollar roundabout proposal floating around town council, everyone hates the idea about as much as the pay parking fiasco. we decided to call our magazine after the thing everyone hates. with a tainted title we just might surprise some people. maybe.

it's coming together

drew and i are working hard at getting this magazine together and neither one of us is willing to let it die this time even though we are seriously struggling at finding an affordable printing solution. best of luck getting ahold of this thing, there might only be 50 issues floating around.
it's something at least.

people say pictures are worth a thousand words. this photo decided to scrapped the
997 useless words and just went with "we're fucking awesome" instead.
well said photograph.

JR

french street artist "JR" has taken things to the next level, fuck it he's taken to some level that i can't even fathom. the sheer scale of his endeavour trumps anything i've come across since i studied christo and jean-claude wrapping the reichstag in berlin. JR's "women project" focuses on the pivotal role which women have in society, with aims to highlight they're struggle, dignity, courage and perseverance in places such as kenya, liberia and rio.
go read about it, check it out and get humbled.

game of skate and game of balls

billy marks is probably the coolest guy ever. he kills skateboarding and he kills throwing ping pong balls into cups off of random shit. it's ridiculous.
(i can't figure out how to link a video... idiot)

addict

i'm addicted to magazines. there i said it. while i was in auckland i would allocate at least 1-3 hours of my lazy hanging out in ponsonby day to reading magazines in mag nation. solid mag shop possibly the best i've come across. does your mother know? in vancouver is the closest comparison i can draw. my choice fix for magazines was without a doubt monster children, aussie mag, tough to come by up here but so good.
as far as addiction and fixes go, i think meth is cheaper, ($20 and issue for MC) but the drool coming out of your mouth will be from the the "page 33" spread they do on hot models, not from the fact your teeth rotted out.

albums

i'm into albums these days. i'm always hyped to roll to 174-0 in vic and rifle through garbageface and brando's vinyl collection and toss on a album and listen to the album in its entirety. that's just good listening.
these albums are good. (maybe do a little self editing in itunes and ditch sufjan's jamboree of instruments falling down the stairs, sorry)
human highway is good and chill.

let's get back to this

so i've got a few emails about this blog and it turns out a few people were actually reading it.
so i'm taking it over now that i'm back and it will most likely be updated with crap i'm either doing or that i'm working on or that i just like for whatever reason. no rhyme or reason, check it out from time to time or not. enjoy.

Surf casting.

We haven't caught a fucking thing.

GERMS!

It seems as though all of Germany has been issued free tickets to New Zealand. There's "Germs" everywhere and Don's stressing.

yup, they managed to obtain sorcerer status by the end of it and finally engaged in some gravel wrestling to determine who was the better sorcerer.

The Best Day Ever

Best Day Ever... Sarah and Don drink 24 beer each while Graeme drives and picks up the pieces.
